DEPARTMENTS
City Clerk's Office
The City Clerk’s Office is responsible for the Administration/Finance
department which consists of two fulltime employees, City Clerk Debra
Sullivan, Human Resource/Finance Associate Holley Jones, and Maryellen
Lasner, Administration. The City Clerk's office provides a variety of
services for the City Commission, for city staff and, most importantly,
for our citizens. The office acts as the liaison between the City Commission
and the people who need to communicate with the elected officials.
- The department is responsible for personnel
records, accounts receivable and payable insurance, payroll, occupational
licensing of all businesses,
garage sale permits, and budget and finance
- The department provides administrative
support services to the commission and city board members.
- The City Clerk is the designated custodian
for all records of the city and public records requests are made
to her office.
- The City Clerk is also responsible for preparing notices for
all public hearings and ordinance advertisements in compliance
with the
city code
and the laws of the State of Florida.
The City Clerk serves as the Supervisor of Elections for Municipal
Elections.
Fire Department
The Belleair Bluffs Fire Department provides fire protection,
fire prevention and basic emergency medical services
to Belleair Bluffs,
the Town of Belleair
and unincorporated county areas of Harbor Hills,
Harbor Bluffs and Oakdale Manor. The fire department consists of
twelve
full-time
firefighter/EMT's.
Administration duties are currently contracted
to the Largo Fire Department.
The total service area is approximately 5 square
miles with a population of 9000.
Belleair Bluffs' community based fire service provides
non-emergency service including installation of smoke
detectors and child
safety seats for vehicles,
a "safe place" and pool and home safety surveys.
Belleair Bluffs Fire District has evolved from an all-volunteer
fire department
in 1964
to a fully staffed fire service protection currently.
The department is an active member of Pinellas County
Fire Services. In addition to
our own
department staff and equipment, an automatic aid agreement
with all other fire departments in the county provides
Belleair Bluffs Fire
District
and the Town of Belleair with an engine and ladder
truck on all first alarm
structure fire responses.
Advanced Life Support Services (paramedics) are
provided by the Largo Fire Department through an
agreement with
Pinellas County
and are
housed in
their own facility located in Belleair Bluffs.
Sunstar, the county's ambulance contractor, provides
patient
transportation
to a medical
facility, if needed.

The City contracts with the nationally accredited
Pinellas County Sheriff's Office for law enforcement
services.
There are two ways
to reach the
deputy who is on duty patrolling our city for non-emergency
concerns or questions. You may use the 24-hour
free direct line to the Sheriff's
Office located in the red box attached to the front
of the City Hall building or simply call 582-6177.

The Crime Prevention Section of the Sheriff's Office
provides education and information for proactive
crime awareness through
their Neighborhood
and Business Watch Programs. For more information

Public Works
The Public Works Department is a service orientated part of the small
city government staffed and operated for the primary purpose of serving
both the citizens and the other internal departments of the City. The
Public Works Department at full staff has four full time employees
consisting of Director of Public Works Robert David
and three staff members. The City of Belleair Bluffs has nine miles
of streets, five major storm systems and a small lake that serves as
retention for fifty-two acres that surround the city (including parts
of Belleair and Largo). Pinellas County assists in the areas of traffic
signals while Florida Power Progress Energy assists with streetlights.
Public Works is responsible for permit applications for all new or
remodeled building, home repair, fence, etc. This department works
very closely with the Pinellas County Sheriff’s department to enforce
code violations.
